Big things grow from small seeds
Dini arranged for seeds and seedlings from Bunnings to replant our community garden now the rain has begun. Seedlings of cabbage, cauliflower and beetroot have a head start in the fertile damp soil. We have also sown two packets of radish seeds as a first crop whilst the others slowly mature. In a few weeks the first radishes will be ready to harvest. Raw radish add that extra zing to salads, however this time of the year consider pickling them using one of the several easy pickling recipes on the net.
Pickled radish adds a zing to sandwiches and an extra piquancy to Asian foods, used in Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese and Korean dishes.

Dini also collected $120 worth of gift cards as a thank you from Bunnings for club members being involved in their Mother's Day event.

Creating, Chatting, (eating) and Connecting
Nothing better on a cold day than connecting with others, discussing new things, seeing various crafts and sharing a laugh or two. Oh and eating yummy cake, biscuits and hot toasted sandwiches.
Making pompoms, knitting, crocheting, drawing, sashiko, chatting, and trying new crafts all occupied the time of members and friends on a chilly, windy morning.
Everyone is welcome to join our merry crew on the 4th Wednesday of every month at Rotary Hall.

Whilst everyone else is getting another hot drink, those still at the tables either craft or scan their phones looking for that elusive crochet pattern [no Jeannie, I wont say what for!] Cause of much laughter.
KESAB sends a timely message
Community and environment are the core business of KESAB environmental solutions. KESAB reaches tens of thousands of South Australians through programs including Road Watch, Sustainable Communities, Clean Site, Butt Free, Illegal Dumping and Environmental Audits.
Over time, KESAB has moved from our familiar 'Australian Tidy Towns Awards' and popular TV litter campaigns to being world leaders in recycling, education and sustainable waste programs.
https://www.kesab.asn.au
South Australia led the country in providing deposits for recyclable containers and KESAB still leads through its many recycling and education programs for schools, businesses and the community.
KESAB's mission aligns with Rotary's 'Environment' area of focus. Follow them on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/KESABenvironmentalsolutions/

What do you put in the green, yellow and red bins? Are there more options? How do you recycle unusual items? Mattresses? Broken wheely chairs? Baby car seats?
