The magic of Rotary

Stephanie A. Urchick

Rotary International President 2024-25

Stephanie A. Urchick has been an RI director and Rotary Foundation trustee and has served Rotary in numerous capacities, including as training leader, regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, and RI president’s representative. Urchick urged members to champion Rotary’s Action Plan, find a balance between continuity and change, and work for peace. Stephanie plans to host a presidential peace conference in 2025 with the theme “Healing in a Divided World.”

Rotary's end of year changes

Rotary's year ends on 30 June. Our new President is Rotarian Phil Pfeiffer. Retiring President is Tracy Miller. Thank you both for your service. Thank you also to the portfolio Directors both retiring and continuing. Treasurer Terry is handing our treasury to Past President Tracy, Sandy is our new Secretary with Mark retiring, Raelene is our new President Elect, Dini continues as Community Director, Merilyn as our International Director also District's Regional Interplast Chair. Rose is our Youth Director. Best wishes to you and your teams.

District 9510 Governor Marie-Louise Lees, Local dignitaries, Nat Cook MP, Katrine Hildyard MP, Deputy Mayor Dan Platten and Pimpala Ward Councillor Kim Davis helped club members and visitors celebrate the stepping down of last year's President Tracy and our incoming President Phil but also the recognition of the work of late Rotarian Grant Sibley and saw Helen Oxenham receive a Paul Harris Fellow from the club.

Club members Terry, Raelene, Mark and Merilyn serving Rotary for 20 years or more also received commendations.

Warm rugs, scarves and beanies help us and the locals

Cold days are here again with beanies, scarves and rugs to keep us warm.

Beanie sales on a cold day at Reynella. Thanks to all the knitters and crocheters who kindly donated their skill and resources to help us raise funds.

Club members Sandy, Merilyn and Cheryle were rostered on to sell beanies, scarves and rugs in front of Coles at Reynella.

A very successful event thank you to everyone who helped.

Hackham West Children's Centre and Hackham West Community Centre,

James from Amanda Rishworth's Office was pleased to accept our warm offerings,

and Vicki from Christies Beach Baptist Church also received warm goodies with thanks.

Our Community Garden again provides fresh produce to locals

Check out our community garden when you next pass the hall. Lush Rhubarb, prolific spinach and parsley as well as unusual peppers brighten up the back of the hall. A huge pot of basil in flower encourages bees for pollination. Need a few lettuce leaves, pick a few from the garden. Feel like spinach and fetta quiche? The garden has plenty of leafy greens for your cooking.

Our first basket full went to Hackham West Community Centre and the second to the Hackham West Children's Centre.
