ONE AND ALL SAIL TRAINING
Our quiz night on Saturday will raise funds for Rotary's youth Projects. Our favourite is the sail training on the 'One and All' training ship.
Aiden Jones recently returned from a wild and wooly trip of more than 340 nautical miles of which the students sailed 300 on their own. The seas were too rough to allow a landing on the beach at Kangaroo Island for sandy fun, so the students sailed the ship the whole way out and back for days except for a short distance navigating the Port River and near gulf.
"Rotary Youth Sailing Voyages are available to all students who are 15 to under 19 years of age. These Voyages have proven to be of great benefit to students whose schooling is affected because they are low in self-confidence and/or have a tendency to be shy and retiring."

CRAFT CREATE and CONNECT
Extra tables were needed for the crafty ladies and gentlemen who played games, crocheted, knitted, woodburnt, drew and made cards this Wednesday morning.
Merilyn didn't disappoint when making toasted sandwiches with Ray's help. Always a welcome snack with a cuppa.

Merilyn and Ray having a Jenga discussion amongst the crafters.
Cheryle knitting, Jeannie learning how to crochet from Marion and Alan and Terry nutting out trivia questions. Are they practicing for quiz night on Saturday?

VIEW CLUB -  WHO ARE THEY?
Our members enjoyed an evening finding out about the View Club.  Ann Dyer and Lorna Rowe spoke about the history, aims and purpose of VIEW Clubs throughout Australia.
'In 1960, George Forbes, then General Secretary of The Smith Family, saw the potential for an organisation which allowed women from all walks of life to develop interests outside the home, providing friendship, education and mental stimulation. At the same time he hoped to offer these women the means to assist others less fortunate through The Smith Family
Today, VIEW is a national women's organisation with 13,000+ members in close to 280 communities. VIEW members make a difference in the communities, help disadvantaged students with their education and make new friends. VIEW is proud to be the largest community sponsor of The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program. Collectively, VIEW members sponsor the education of more than 1,785+ students on the Learning for Life program.

Raelene thanks our visitors for their informative presentation
NEWS
CFS WATER TANK CHERRY GARDENS
Several years ago our club allocated funds to a joint Clubs project in Timor Leste that did not go ahead due to COVID. Those funds were later reallocated by us to the Rotary Club of Flagstaff Hill for a water tank for the Cherry Gardens Country Fire Service. After much lobbying and fund raising by Flagstaff Hill, the first ground has been broken and foundations are being prepared for a 223,000 litre galvanised water tank which will be an asset in the hills during fire season. Thank you RC Flagstaff Hill members for your diligence and perseverance in seeing this project through to the end.
