Our club and others, have assisted to build a multi purpose study hall and community space in Vaiyampatti township , Tamil Nadul Southern India. The new space will enable students to do homework, share resources and learn after school. With general literacy at approx 70%, lower for females, this new space encourages learning and literacy in the town. The land was donated by a generous local and the building work by Rotary clubs in several countries including some South Australian Rotary Clubs.

Louise Kelly CEO of OARS Community Transitions - Offenders Aid and Rehabilitation Services of South Australia https://www.communitytransitions.com.au/about-oars/ spoke to club members about the value to the community of supporting people after completing their sentence, assisting them and their families, and enhancing community wellbeing by reducing offending and victimisation. Louise explained about the scope of their assistance, showed how local hubs provide a safe place especially for women, and the statistics of improved community safety when offenders are settled back in their community with meaningful support.
Louise was passionate about the value their support gives to not only individuals, but to the community they live in.
