Thank you to club members who donated cans of soup to the Hackham West Community Centre this week.

The soup will go into their pantry to fill hungry bellies during winter.

 

 

 

Noarlunga Bunnings donated compost and plants for our community garden at Christies Beach.

 

 

Planting out has been ably completed, now to wait for our winter harvest.

 

Under clear skies at the Brodie Road wetlands in Morphett Vale, Rotary members cooked up a storm at the Big Backyard 'Night sky' event on Friday 2 May. BBQ sausages with onions were enjoyed by plenty of locals. Many returning for seconds.

 

 

Kaurna woman, Auntie Susan,  told stories about the stars as they appeared in the darkening sky.

 

 

 

Crime scene photographs of bags full of money and dead bodies kept members speechless as Retired  Detective Sargeant Terry Harding spoke to members about his role in solving the Lonsdale murders from the 1990's. Gerald Preston went to Les's Auto Repairs in August 1996 and shot Les Knowles and Tim Richards  dead and injured another man. It took Detectives months to find and convict Preston of the murders.

Police say Tognolini ordered the murder of Tim Richards and Les Knowles, who were gunned down in an Adelaide auto repair shop on August 15, 1996.by Gerald David Preston, a friend of Tognolini, was sentenced to 32 years' jail after he was found guilty of the murders. The High Court later reported: "The prosecution case was that the killings were carried out at the request of one Tognolini." '
