Well it is now 3 months since I have taken on the role of President for our Club and I still feel like a Duck on a pond (calm above water and madly paddling below water). Let me thank all Club members for their commitment to the various fund raising activities, especially the Footy Gates which was a major commitment. I was talking with the SFL Committee executives following the SFL finals who thanked me for OUR commitment during the final series. Our Club, in my opinion, punches well above its weight with a significant number of projects , events and fund raising activities. In addition to these I will be discussing with Niomi from the Hackham West Community Centre where we can help, not just funding but also action. We are currently trying a different meeting structure. Some may say this is what we used to do and you are possibly right. I am hoping that this meeting structure will have duel benefits (1) provide an opportunity for fellowship for members: (2) and exposes our guest speakers with a better understanding as to what we are involved in. Before the end of the year I would be keen to hear from members as how you believe this meeting structure is working. As a Club we have committed to the Rotary Pacific Fit for Purpose Program which is to run along side of the Zone 8 Regionalization Pilot and has been established to look at Club Culture and how this can be transformed to meet future needs of Clubs. The end result will be a customised plan for each club that will enrich membership involvement and attract new members. This will be a challenge but I’m hoping that I will be able to bring back to our Club opportunities to raise our profile, membership and interest. I am well aware that I am an infant in the Rotary family compared to most of our Club members and as such I am keen to hear from anyone who has ideas on how we can improve our Club fitness and attractiveness. In return I will attempt to ensure you are all kept informed on activities associated to the fit for purpose program. Phil Pfeiffer President 2024-25 |
