Spring is here and the wicking beds at Rotary Hall have been replanted with seedling donations from Noarlunga Bunnings. Fresh lettuce, cucumbers, zuchini, tomatoes and bright marigolds have been planted in the rich soil and the reservoirs refilled with water. Dini dug and planted whilst Marion spread a lot of water around. Alan and Jeannie popped in to assist with the weeding too. The harvest will be enjoyed by locals and the Hackham West Community Centre in due course. Our previous Parsley and rhubarb plantings are looking good and continue to be a useful 'cut and come again' crop. Apple and rhubarb crumble anyone?

Making rainbows

 

 

Rotary Hall was busy with many activities last month. Rose and Tracy were sewing toiletry bags for Hackham West Community Centre, those displaced by domestic violence and homeless men. Dini supervised ladies who were interested in pyrography, a couple of ladies knitted and Marion showed how to stitch Kawandi style. Good for recycling scraps. Our next session at Rotary Hall is on 25 September. Come at 10:30 and stay for morning tea. Maybe even take home some parsley from the wicking beds.

During Footy Finals season, Rotary assists with collecting gate fees for the Southern Football League. This partnership frees up the Footy Club Directors to do their ground duties whilst Rotary members serve at the gates. We have new hi-vis vests with our club name on them and reflective strips for safety. Say hello to a club member at the footy finals.

 

 

 

 

Rotary members helped with the Family fun Day activities at Bunnings recently. Customers had the opportunity to throw axes and balls as well as colour in and draw. It was great seeing the children enjoy the evening.
