Community Garden update
On Sunday Rotarians and friends gathered at Rotary Hall to erect the garden shed to house gardening equipment for the Community Garden.
It is the editor's understanding that the instructions were not clear and after two hours of "hard labour" it was decided to put the job on hold and adjourn for coffee, fruit and pavlova (provided by Jeannie Nelson).

Update on the update

The garden shed has now been installed.

The bricks for the Rotary wheel have been moved from our shed in Lonsdale to Rotary Hall for the next stage of the Community Garden project.
Thank you  Marion, Sandy, Merilyn, Christine and Dini for a job well done!
DG Partner Project

Kathryn Thomas' DG Partner Project includes raising funds for the Peter Nelson Leukemia Foundation.
At a recent board meeting the Club agreed to present Kathryn with a cheque to help her with her fundraising endeavors.
The "cheque" was gratefully received.
Pictured are President Marion Fielke making the presentation to a very pleased Kathryn.

Funds Fun and Activities

President Nominee Phil Pfeiffer organised a "Funds, Fun and Activities" workshop which was facilitated by Friend of Rotary Ian Rowley.
DG Paul Thomas and Kathryn joined us in the activities as well as Mia Mandara from the City of Onkaparinga. Their input was well received.
While quite a few of our members were absent due to illness or travel, a great number of ideas for fundraising, community service and fun activities came to the fore, with all members present participating in the process.
The organising committee will collate all the information gathered and share this at a future club meeting.
Our thanks to Ian for a job well done!
Micro bats and the Environment
Seaford Rotary Club's micro bat box making project is attracting national attention.
We are invited to a special event on Sunday, March 12 commencing at 10.00am to learn about an amazing partnership between the Rotary Club of Seaford and EcoVineyards
Past Rotary International President Ian Riseley OAM (Rotary Club of Sandringham Vic) will be in attendance.

Meeting Notes 127

Apologies:
Grant, Tracy, Rose, Raelene, Ray, Terry, Gaynor, Mark, Cheryle, Alan, Jeanette, Chris A and Friend of Rotary Jan.
President Marion welcomes guests.
Rotary District 9510 Governor Paul Thomas AM and his wife Kathryn, Mia Mandara from City of Onkaparinga, also Friend of Rotary, Ian Rowley

District Governor Paul Thomas addressed the meeting, speaking of the various forms of volunteering and what we achieve as Rotarians.

President Marion also presented a cheque for $500 to Kathryn Thomas, as one of her projects this year is to fundraise for the Peter Nelson Leukemia Foundation. Another fundraising event will be the ‘Roundabout of Art’ where unloved donated artworks are sold to benefit the PNLF.
Phil introduced Ian Rowley who directed the workshop with liberal applications of choccy frogs.
Ideas flowed and were expanded on. Everything from a ‘funeral raffle’, cheeky calendar and crockery smash were offered up as future events.

President Marion final comments
Vocational visit has been planned to Noarlunga Fire Station on Wednesday 29 March, meet at Noarlunga Bunnings car park at 6.20pm for the tour at 6.30pm. Limit 40 see Merilyn to express your interest.

Toast to Rotary the World over was done by Christine Markey. Chris chose the Rotary Club of Casey, Vic. Of particular interest was the Club's Holland Festival (we have 2 club members and 1 honorary member with Dutch heritage) which attracts between four and five thousand visitors each year. On offer are all things Dutch, food, drinks, entertainment and cultural items. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, the next Festival is on 18th March.

Please check the calendar for Raffle Ticket Sales opportunities.

Meeting closed 9.05pm
