Several times a year our club holds a 'FORUM'. - A forum is a place, situation, or group in which people exchange ideas and discuss issues, especially important public issues. [Google]. So, what is a club Forum all about. This meeting is an opportunity for members to ask questions, debate and find out about issues and events that affect our club. Our District 9510 call it their 'Assembly' and use it to inform and update members about issues and events affecting our Rotary district. Two members dialed in by ZOOM to share the discussion. We had a presentation on the club's newsletter, finding out how to get the most from our fortnightly e bulletin. And also one on Rotary exchange students. This popular program has been in abeyance due to bans on overseas travel and now the immediate Covid threat is being managed, our first SA inbound student from Germany hosted by the Gawler Rotary Club is due in July. Club Directors have an opportunity to share breaking news with members. The welcome refurbishment of the large kitchen in Rotary Hall by Council is due early in the new financial year. More on that later. Also shared was that group discussions were not ZOOM friendly. We will need to work on how to do better. Members were asked to come back to the club with a fundraising idea that can identify our club as unique. Thinking caps on... |
