Rotarians learn about Staying Safe Online
Speaker Marty from the Commonwealth Bank spoke to members about Staying Safe Online.

The Presenter was Marty, Manager of the Commonwealth Bank at Noarlunga.
He mentioned Fraud, where the person has no knowledge of a third party involved.
Eg: you have a landscaper come in to give you a quote on work to be done. He sends you the quote and you decide to go ahead with the work so you make the payment, then nothing happens. You call the landscaper and he says he didn't receive the money. It has come out of your account but hasn't gone into his. A third party has taken it by 'hacking' the quote sent to you with faulty bank account information.
SCAMS:
There are various types of scams ie: Investment, Relationship,Online shopping, by SMS.
With investment scams, do your research. If it sounds to good to be true, it most likely isn't.
Relationship scams, they build trust with you and it may take time do do this then they hit you up for money, usually to come and see you, or for a sick family member. If you are unable to give them anything, they play on your emotions, like you really don't care for me, or I'll stop talking to you.
Threats or urgent payments, saying you need to pay what ever it is now or you will go to jail or have your licence taken away etc.
They play on your emotions or a moments of weakness

International Day of Peace ceremony at Woodcroft School
President Phil, Merilyn and Marion commemorated the International Day of Peace at Woodcroft Primary School. The school received one the of early Peace Poles in South Australia, no 21, with students hosting a lovely ceremony reminding us all that Peace begins with each one of us. Students prepared peace messages and origami peace doves, placing them at their school Peace Pole. A permanent reminder of our role in preventing aggression.

Tracy and her crew led the production of cards, with ornamentation and offcuts both finding a place in creating a bevy of beautiful cards.
Christmas is only 3 months away.

Ash also created some lovely cards, Marion sewing toiletry bags in the background.
An inquisitive local smelled the hot cheese toasties and came in for a look
