INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
September 21 is designated as the International Day of Peace. With the conflicts throughout the world, can we really make a difference to peace in the world? Rotary sponsors and installs Peace Poles throughout the world. They remind everyone who sees them that a peaceful world starts with you. Each one of us can make peace with each other. Each reconciliation, each forgiveness, each de-escalation of a conflict is one step towards a peaceful world.
Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centers.

A Peace Pole is a monument that displays the message May Peace Prevail On Earth in the language of the country where it is placed. It usually displays 3 to 7 additional languages meaningful to the host site. The message is referred to as an affirmation of peace and its placement furthers Rotary's goal of building a culture of peace throughout the world.

The message May Peace Prevail On Earth was authored by the late Masahisa Goi of Japan after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It is now an international message of peace with over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world, dedicated as monuments to peace.

VALE MURRAY STINSON
Murray's life was one of family and service to others.
Murray joined Morphett Vale Apex Club in 1970 (which was started by Rotary). Whilst working in Papua New Guinea he was elected their Apex National President in 1978.and was granted life membership ten years later when he reached their age threshold of 40.
After returning to Adelaide via time in Darwin, he was invited to join the Rotary Club of Noarlunga East in 1990. Murray held many positions on the board including President and and hosted Rotary International Exchange students from Germany and Denmark. He received a Paul Harris Fellow pin with sapphire for his dedication and service. After retiring, Murray joined the Morphett Vale Probus Club (also started by Rotary) in 2008 later being granted life membership.
Murray was a friendly, social, engaging club member and inevitably had a story for any situation.
Our sincere condolences to Joy and family.

President Merilyn, Murray and DG Craig

FOOTY GATES SUCCESS
Footy finals each year give Rotarians a chance to earn money for their projects. We sponsor young footballers, youth leadership training, science experiences and sail training for young people amongst others. As Rotarians are people of integrity, we are trusted to handle the gate fees for the Southern Football League. Fees collected go towards paying grounds hire, umpires fees and the myriad other costs involved in running a sporting league. Thank you Southern Football League Directors for giving us the opportunity to serve and raise funds for others.
